Hiatus Over (Hopefully)

Hiatus (hi·a·tus) - A gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity; a break

First of all, you're welcome for today's vocabulary lesson.  Second, this is a word I have become all too familiar with when it comes to this blog.  This writing journey started shortly after I got married, and why I maybe wasn't sure then why I was doing it, I wrote my first post on June 24, 2008.

Honest moment: I used to think blogging was only really worth it if the number of followers I had was constantly on the up and up.  I'm here to tell you, as if you didn't already know, this is by far the least important aspect of blogging as far as I'm concerned.  It makes me heartsick that we're almost into the eighth month of 2013 and I've written (being generous) fourteen times.  It's not for lack of at least attempting to write more, but somehow, the desire I used to have to keep at bay during the work day, just ebbed away.

I'm literally shaking my head as I write this because I love writing.  I love being able to ramble or reminisce using the written word.  I love connecting with people and even call some friends.  Blogging and writing alike give me a chance to reflect and this blog is proof positive of me growing up over the past five years.

During this somewhat impromptu hiatus of mine, I thought about this blog a lot.  I thought about the title of "blogger" and if it was something I still wanted and "deserved," for lack of better word.  I'm not sure I've reached any sort of conclusion during that thought process, but I what I did do is accept that the occasional hiatus is okay.  At this point, blogging is something I do for fun and the only compensation I am earning at this point is self given :) And comments of course!

In all honesty, all the words written up until this point, were mostly for me.  I needed to somehow jump start myself back into the blogging world.  However, for your viewing pleasure, my life in pictures from the past couple of months!

(from the top, left to right)
one. visiting some sweet friends in their new home
two. Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
three. Nationals vs. Cubs baseball game
four. Had the chance to be a 2nd shooter for a wedding
five. Celebrated 5 sweet years of marriage
six. Anniversary trip to where it all began; Boone!
seven. Hung out with my awesome nephew
eight. Started the Bible in 365 days plan along with the She Reads Truth devotionals
nine. And finally, got a tattoo

Though each of these things are common, they are sweet treasures to me.  To me, life has become increasingly more about finding the blessings in the ordinary rather than searching for the extraordinary.

I've missed this blog because, honestly, I love sharing and connecting and all that other stuff.  Writing is a such a blessing to me and I really, really need to embrace it...

Happy Friday, y'all!
